Classification and Definition of ThermoDyne Corp’s Fabricated Components
Overview:
All materials produced by ThermoDyne Corp are supported by corresponding Materials Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), and outline any recommended procedures to be observed during handling, installation, use and/or removal of the materials. Although microporous materials have been widely regarded as “safe” for all markets in which they have been employed for the past 40 years, customers unfamiliar with handling these types of materials may request that ThermoDyne Corp design, engineer and fabricate finished components for their use and consumption. Such finished components are classified as “Articles” by the US Department of Labor “OSHA”, and are described in greater detail below.
Definition:
An “Article”, as defined by the US Department of Labor (OSHA document 1910.1200 ( c )), is “a manufactured item other than a fluid or particle: (i) which is formed to a specific shape or design during manufacture; (ii) which has end use function(s) dependent in whole or in part upon its shape or design during end use; and (iii) which under normal conditions of use does not release more than very small quantities, e.g., minute or trace amounts of a hazardous chemical (as determined under paragraph (d) of this section), and does not pose a physical hazard or health risk to employees.”
Summary/Conclusion:
Fabricated components manufactured by ThermoDyne Corp are considered to be “Articles”, and are not expected to require any special care in handling as they do not pose health risks to employees during there installation, use or removal.
