Example Estimated R-Values for ThermoDyne DynaGuard Materials

Because R-Values (Thermal Resistance) are typically assigned to building materials, and because microporous insulation systems are usually not specified as traditional building supplies, the thermal conductivity of microporous insulation systems is usually a better indicator of thermal performance across a range of temperatures.

However, as microporous materials are making greater headway into traditional markets as contractors and engineers seek to make valuable gains in useable space, weight and thermal efficiency, the following graphs should adequately represent the conversion of thermal conductivity to R-Values at given thicknesses and specified temperatures.

The following formulation was used to determine these figures:

R-Value = Thickness (in)/Thermal Conductivity

f - Thermal Conductivity as measured by Btu – in/hr – ft2 - °F
